1) Start GIMP
2) Click on 'File' (at the top left of the screen), then in the drop-down list click 'Open'
3) Locate the image you wish to use, then click 'Open'
4) In the Toolbox, click on 'Rectangle Select Tool'
5) Place the cursor over the photo
6) Hold down the left mouse button while moving the mouse to select the area of the photo that you wish to keep, then release the mouse button
7) Right click inside the area you have selected
8) Move the mouse so that the word 'Image' is highlighted, then move the mouse to 'Crop to Selection' and click on this option
9) Click on 'File' (at the top left of the screen), then in the drop-down list click 'Save As'
10) Name the image and use the extension .JPG. Take note of which folder the image has been saved in.
